The Peak

On our first full day in HK, right on cue, the typhoon and rain started. We caught up with Darren and Tum at the lobby and started making our way to Soho area. It's a shopping and food district there with apparently the world's longest covered escalator. We went all the way up and back down again and walked our way to The Peak tram station.

We caught the really cool tram to the top of Victoria peak where there's shopping mall and a lookout to see HK city. It also got HK's Madame Tussaud's wax museum there (we didn't check it out since David, Darren and Tum obvs weren't familiar with HK stars. Unfortunately, the rain, wind and fog was quite bad we didn't see much of the city at all and we mostly stayed indoors having lunch and coffee to wait until the rain drizzled down a bit. We then went trekking our way back down, caught the bus to the ferry terminal and caught a ferry to go to Temple market.

Temple market is basically an outdoor Paddy's market. They both sell quite similar stuff - mostly souvenirs and fake watches and other random items. We wondered around for a while, then David and I went back to Victoria Harbour to check out Symphony of Lights. It was quite underwhelming but I think it's due to the bad weather. Since it was still early, we decided to check out Ladies market. It's slightly bigger than Temple market and I think they have better stuff there. We got back to our hotel around midnight. It's been a full-on first day. Was great except for the shitty weather. Hopefully tomorrow the weather will pick up a bit.
