Better late than never

Gosh, I haven't updated this blog for a while. I have been busy with work and other stuff that going on in my life.
Now let me get you up to date since the last time I wrote here.

I spent most of Dec working like crazy on a short deadline and then went back home for the X'mas and new year holiday. I caught up with lots of my old friends that I still keep in touch with on facebook.
It was fun to go back home, all I do most of the time just eat and go to the mall to catch up with them. Jakarta is a very mall cultured city. It has a gazillion malls with new ones popping up every second, sometimes beside each other. We are not even talking about a normal size mall here. We're talking about more than 12 floor supermalls! and most ppl hang out there after long day at work. After a while, everything kinda blurred into one.

And back straight to work in Jan. It wasn't a really short deadline, but since it's my first time to be in charge of  the design team, I found it a little bit stressful. Luckily everything went along smoothly and we had one of the easiest deadline weeks in ages. Yay for us:)
Anyway, I'm just gonna post some pics of me with my friends during the time i went back to Jakarta here.
You would notice that they're all taken in either a restaurant or a cafe. Eat and gossiping, nothing more fun than that hahahaha.

Destination: Sydney

We are flying back to Sydney today. Boo!! :( There are still so many places that we haven't seen.
When we first planned this trip, we thought 6 days is more than enough to see HK and had even planned to go to Macau. Obviously we were wrong. 6 days isn't enough to check out HK at all! I’ve still got a lot on my to-see list and it's really sad that everything was over so fast. We were already starting to get used to the city and their working hours and we love it here. It's a really nice city to visit and I actually have a lot of relatives here who I haven't seen in years. Hopefully we get to come back here soon and for longer this time. We would prob spend more time just enjoying the city and not got at an Amazing Race pace trying to cross out everything on everyone’s lists hahahaha.
Sidenote; everyone here actually thinks that I'm one of them and always start talking to me in Cantonnese! I don't think I look like Honkies at all.

We will arrive in Sydney in the night time. Luckily, I took Tuesday off too, so I can unpacked, rest and prepare myself for work on Wednesday. Can't wait for my next holiday again. Bring on December!!!!

Ocean Park

Last full day in HK. First on the schedule is Ocean park. It's a huge theme park in HK. We took a bus to get there and since it's the weekend, there's thousands of people there already. It took us ages just to even do 1 ride. It was fun nevertheless. We took the cable car again and got to see a panda, red panda and seals in their animals exhibits area. The weather is really hot tho, it makes you just want to stay indoors or somewhere with air con like the panda's area hahaha.

After we finished with Ocean's park, we took a ferry to Harbour City mall. It's a large shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui area. They sell some really nice stuff and I got myself a cool jacket that was on sale in one of the shops there. We spent a couple hrs there until sunset until the weather cooled down a bit before we headed to Ladies market again. We just wanted to check it out and get ourselves a couple of souvenirs before we fly back tomorrow. It's kinda sad that my holiday has almost come to an end :(

Causeway Bay

It's Darren and Tum's last day in HK. They have to fly back to Bangkok in the arvo, so today we all caught a bus to Stanley market in the morning for lunch and to check out the area. It's located on the south of Hong Kong island so its quite a long drive to get there. Its worth it for the scenery alone tho. It's basically another outdoor market near the beach selling Chinese arts and souvenirs for tourists. The weather is actually really hot so we have to use umbrella to walk around. We had lunch on one of the cafe's beside the beach, which is actually quite pricey for HK standards.

After lunch, Darren and Tum had to go back to city and to the airport, so David and I continued checking out the temples near the area. Once we finished, we caught the bus back to Admiralty area and checked out the Pacific Place mall. It's one of HK's swankiest malls. We like it there because it's got air-con. It sells all the high end brands like LV and Burberry. We hung out there for a while and then we moved on to Causeway bay, which is only 2 train stops away from Admiralty. Causeway Bay is one of HK's major shopping districts with Times square and SOGO. We didn't even get to check out SOGO because it was getting really late and everything was starting to close. Oh well, put that on the list for the next HK trip:)

The happiest place in HK

It's Disneyland of course!!! One of my main reasons to go to HK was to visit Disneyland, so I was definitely planning to spend a full day there.
The weather finally picked up. It stopped raining and returned to hot, humid summer weather again. We caught the train there and then we had to catch the transporting Mickey train to Disneyland. The train was so cool!! Wish they have that trains everywhere.

It was busy as expected and we had to queue for ages to get on a ride. I don't really mind queueing since it at least kept us in the shade. My favourite ride was the Space Mountain and we ended up doing it twice. We stayed there until the closing time fireworks. I luv, luv luv it there. It's smaller than the one in LA but in saying that, we missed on 2 rides already and I think they're expanding it soon since we saw constructions nearby.
I bought myself a Chip n' Dale mug and chocolates since I'm a huge fans of Chip n' Dale. It's actually quite hard to find their merchandises since they're not the most popular Disney character. Toy story gallore there.

Big Buddha

Day 2 and a half! First on the schedule was Wong Tai Sin Temple. It is one of the most famous shrines in HK. We caught the train there. The weather was still bad, by the way. Luckily, we armed ourselves with brollies.

After checking out the temple, we caught the train again to see the Big Buddha. It's the world's largest outdoor bronze Buddha statue and in order to get there, we had to take a 25 minute trip on Ngong Ping 360 cable car. It was really windy and foggy while we're on it, which was actually quite scary. We couldn't even see the statue due to the fog. It cleared up a bit once we get to the top. We didn't spend much time there since it was almost closing time so we headed back down and went to this outlet mall near the train station. It's called Citygate outlets and it's the largest outlet mall in HK. We didn't buy anything though, just window shopping mostly.

For dinner, we decided to go to Jumbo Kingdom floating restaurant. We caught a bus to Aberdeen and then a small connecting boat to get there. It was quite empty when we were there, maybe its coz it was a bit late and in the middle of the week. We had Peking Duck and something else that I completely forgot hahaha. It was good and the price was roughly similar to Sydney price, but in my opinion, I think BBQ king's Peking duck in Sydney is much better. Maybe because I had my first ever Peking duck there and it set my tastebuds.

The Peak

On our first full day in HK, right on cue, the typhoon and rain started. We caught up with Darren and Tum at the lobby and started making our way to Soho area. It's a shopping and food district there with apparently the world's longest covered escalator. We went all the way up and back down again and walked our way to The Peak tram station.

We caught the really cool tram to the top of Victoria peak where there's shopping mall and a lookout to see HK city. It also got HK's Madame Tussaud's wax museum there (we didn't check it out since David, Darren and Tum obvs weren't familiar with HK stars. Unfortunately, the rain, wind and fog was quite bad we didn't see much of the city at all and we mostly stayed indoors having lunch and coffee to wait until the rain drizzled down a bit. We then went trekking our way back down, caught the bus to the ferry terminal and caught a ferry to go to Temple market.

Temple market is basically an outdoor Paddy's market. They both sell quite similar stuff - mostly souvenirs and fake watches and other random items. We wondered around for a while, then David and I went back to Victoria Harbour to check out Symphony of Lights. It was quite underwhelming but I think it's due to the bad weather. Since it was still early, we decided to check out Ladies market. It's slightly bigger than Temple market and I think they have better stuff there. We got back to our hotel around midnight. It's been a full-on first day. Was great except for the shitty weather. Hopefully tomorrow the weather will pick up a bit.

Greetings from Hong Kong!

I'm flying to HK today -finally! Been waiting for this holiday for ages. I'm sick of the cold Sydney winter and Hong Kong will be the perfect remedy for it. We (David and I) will be flying with Qantas early in the morning and arriving late in the arvo there. Darren organised the flights and accomodation and we are gonna stay in Tsim Sha Tsui area. It's gonna be my first time in Hong Kong, so I'm really excited.

We arrived on time and caught the train straight to the bus stop that dropped us not far from the hotel. Once we checked in, we decided to do the ferry night cruise, but apparently we're supposed to booked it the day before, so we've missed it. We then just walked around the area and to Victoria Harbour to see the night view of Hong Kong. The walkway area there is called "Avenue of the stars" and it's filled with hand prints of Hong Kong movie stars, some of whom I recognise. It's so nice to be able to walk around in just a t-shirt, shorts and thongs. No annoying winter jackets, but apparently we are expecting a typhoon tomorrow. Just my luck hahaha but so far, I love everything here.

I flew back to Jakarta this morning with Iwan. We didn't realise we are gonna be on the same flight up until last weekend when we asked each other plans. We can't get a seat beside each other thou, so he ended up sitting behind me. That's us waiting on the airport lounge. The plane was delayed for an hour. Typical Garuda. Other than that, it was smooth sailing.
Arrived safe and sound in Jkt. Got picked up by my parents and bro. Man, its frickin' hot here. You'll just stand /sit there doing nothing and you start to sweat. Thank gawd for aircon.

After I unpacked and had dinner, I went to Grand Indonesia Mall with my brother to catch up with Vina. Gawd, I've known her for more than a decade. We used to live together back in our uni days at St Leonards, that was a great time. She's working now as a buyer for Burberry. My how times have changed, we used to work together too as a casual waiter at Star City. Coffee, tea or soft drinks people? hahahaha
Apparently she's now a big fag hag. She introduced me to all her friends and we went to SoHo bar for drinks. It was a nice place albeit really hot since we sat beside the open balcony. This is the view of the city from the balcony. I'm home now:)

Day 72 - Uhmm, Vegas?

I was so so busy today at work and with other stuff that I realised I haven't taken a pic of anything, and I'm deff not gonna take pic of myself. My skin is peeling like crazy. It just look a bit gross, and people that I walk pass look at me weirdly. I'm also already at home and I couldn't be bothered to go outside and take some pics, so I'll just give you this pic. My mini-me and Las Vegas neon sign.
I went to Vegas in 2006. The reason we went there wasn't for gambling. I don't even remember putting money in the slot machines at all actually. We went there because we wanted see Celine Dion at the colosseum. It was at the time when Celine only performed there and no where else. The show was really great and I ended up watching it again when she was touring Australia last year. Vegas itself was amazing. It's hot, but not humid, because it's in the middle of the desert, and everyone was just walki
ng around drinking, shopping and gambling. It's a tourist capital deff. There's so many attractions in each casinos, that you don't even have to gamble to enjoy the city. Cirque de soleil, Madame Tussaud's, etc. I'll deff will go back there again one day.

And here's the real pic of me with the strip as a background, Ha, I'm wearing the same t-shirt as my mini-me, obvs, I need to wear diff shirt more often:P

Day 4 - Bula!

Nothing much is really happening today. I was going to take pics of my lunch, which is noodle with chicken and crispy fish ball, but I was too lazy to take the camera out! oh well, next time:)

I Went to Fiji a couple weeks ago. It was amazing! We stayed at the Westin resort, which I recommend very much. The weather was nice and hot; drizzling for a little bit, but not really a big deal. The food...hmmmm...The food was so yummy!! Nothing beats champagne and orange juice for breakfast hahaha. I drank lots of cocktails too, the highlight was the butterscotch delight. Two thumbs up:-)

It was so relaxing there, pure bliss! I can guarantee you, that if I stayed there for at least 3 months, I’ll be so fit and hot lol. Lots of swimming involved.

Well, since I have to put up at least 1 new pic a day, the creative me took this pic of my mini plastic figurine with a Fiji postcard background. A for effort I say:P

WORD OF THE DAY courtesy of Demeter:

Getting wound up or riled up over an unimportant issue.
